Reach the Northline desk in Ames

Blended seed, bagged feed and spring agronomy runs out of one yard on the north edge of Ames. Call before noon and we can usually have a bulk order loaded the same day, and an agronomist out to your fields within two business days.

One phone line, one order inbox monitored by the two people who schedule trucks. No phone trees, no ticket numbers to chase.

Where to find us

The sales counter, the seed warehouse and the feed mill all sit behind the same fence line off County Road E29.

Directions and loading-bay instructions

Read this before you pull a hopper bottom or a tandem trailer onto the property. Our lanes are short and the mill runs two bays, so arriving unprepared backs up County Road E29.

Ames yard layout: two unloading bays, drive-through lane, and the north gate for trailers longer than 40 feet.
  1. Take Exit 113 off US-30 onto Dayton Avenue, then head north 1.4 miles. The yard is on the left immediately after the E29 intersection, marked by the green Northline sign.
  2. Pull past the scale and stop. A dispatcher signs you in at the window on the driver's side; no appointment slip is needed if your ticket number was issued by phone or email the day before.
  3. Bay 1 handles bulk grain and bagged feed, Bay 2 handles liquid and custom blends. Back in at a shallow angle so your hopper gate clears the pit grate. Trailer lengths above 40 feet are sent to the north gate instead.
  4. Before you pull away, confirm the printed net weight against your ticket and hand the signed copy back to the dispatcher. Loads hauled after 5:00 p.m. need a call the same morning so we can hold a shipping clerk on site.

“Thursday and Friday afternoons in April are our worst window. If you can take a Wednesday morning load, you will usually be on the road in twenty minutes.” — Darlene Voss, shipping clerk
